At the beginning of the course I was a bit excited to see what it has to offer. after being introduced to the course properly, I was anticipating the outcome of my course work due to the fact that it looked a bit compact. after, getting over my fair, and become adjusted with the class, I was able to relate to what was being taught and the new things that was brought forward tend to keep my focus.
surprisingly, I have gain new ideas and strategies to use technology, I was able to learn new ways to incorporate technology into my classroom. I have learned how to engage students more, how to make things easier for me as a teacher and for parents, and how to use technology to help students learn in different ways. I have learned how to operate many tools that will become useful in helping my classroom run smoothly.
In addition, as I learned how to use different technological tools, I had a few mishaps, but with the teacher and my peer guide I was able to pull through. for instance, when we were working on the program audacity, I found it a bit challenging, everything I tried it seem to demotivate me a bit more and after the teacher explain it I was able to function on my own.
Therefore, I believe that to be a teacher you need to be open to new ideas in technology. So if something new comes out it is important for a teacher to look at that tool critically, see if it would be positive to use in the classroom and if so to learn how to use every part of it so the students can get the most out of the tools.
Hence, I am able to say that technology tends to have more of an impact because it makes things happen on a grander scale. Particularly in the sciences, it's not always feasible to reproduce laboratory conditions in the classroom. also, Technology makes lessons more memorable by employing a variety of different learning styles. It's one thing to read about the moon in a textbook; it's a whole other experience to see a video of a moon landing, track the moon's orbit with a mobile app, and develop a 3D model of the moon using open source software. These varied experiences can help students digest information in new ways and improve their retention levels and this course have made me aware of this. thus, encouraging me to facilitate these new ideas taught to my teaching more effective for my students in the future.
